Standing Coffin

It is very important to choose a proper tomb site in Korea.
Many Koreans belive that a good tomb site would influence the prosperity of their descendants.
There is a special job called 'Gikwan'.
They choose good grave sites according to 'Pungsu'.
'Pungsu' is a popular belief that natural lasdscape has mysterious life energy and can determine human fortune.
If the grave faces south to get more sunshine and if it can also look over a river, it is the best tomb site.
Some foreigners misunderstand that the coffin stands straight because of the shape of the tomb.
Koreans bury coffins exactly like westerners do,
but they cover the grave with turfed soil to protect it from the weather.
